Our Story

In 1949, Gabe and Annie Welch saw the need for a church on the north side of town, and they began holding services in their home. Bethel Assembly of God was established in 1956, led by Pastor R.W. Siewert, and their first facility was built on Moss Street in 1957. The building was later moved to Dunand Street, and additional space was built near Northside High School in the late 1950s and 60s. The church outgrew their facility and bought property at the corner of I-10 and I-49. Under the direction of Pastor Mike Linney, the current facility was erected as Bethel Assembly of God Crossroads Cathedral in 1981. In 1986, Jeff and Donna Ables moved to Acadiana to oversee Bethel’s student ministries. They left in 1994, and returned in 1999 to serve as lead pastors. Since that time, Crossroads has more than tripled in attendance, and now stands on the threshold of a whole new era of ministry in Southwest Louisiana!
